**NEW** KENYA Embu AA

This week’s coffee comes to us from the Embu region of Kenya. This coffee is a Regional Select (much like our Excelso Colombia regional select coffees) that was developed to highlight how different local environments - like soil and elevation - shape a coffee's unique flavor profile. For regional select coffee, green lots were blended that score between 84 and 87; however, when these lots made it stateside they were cupping out much higher, around 90 points. The Uteuzi Jimbo line, which is Swahili for "county select", focuses specifically on Kenya's top coffee-growing regions like Nyeri and Embu. While you won't get a single-producer farm story, you get incredible, reliable traceability right down to the specific county.

In this coffee look for notes of tart apricot, bergamot, and a hint of blueberry sweetness. This coffee, like many Kenyan lots, is a combination of Batian, SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 varieties.
